This straight flight 'horse-shoe' shaped staircase has been designed to contrast the more traditional setting of the hospital library that it serves. The staircase is constructed generally in stainless steel with hardwood treads and risers that incorporate a full width lighting unit. The structural glass balustrading on each side of the flight has had a translucent film applied for modesty reasons. The staircase is free-standing between floors and has no support under the mid-landing.
